Citizen Men’s BL5180-57L Eco-Drive Perpetual Calendar Watch Review

Got this watch yesterday. So far it’s good. Nice watch, the size is a little bit small. It charges in the sun. Like other people said, it’s hard to change the date. If you want to change the date fom 1 to 30… take your time.

Two things I don’t like:
First, The date shows in the date window. The position will change after half day. Even in the afternoon, it will show 90% of current date and 10% of next day. Usually the date will change after 20:00 for other watches.
second: the band is designed with certain curve. You need to be careful if you have small wrist.

Citizen Men’s AT0200-05E Eco-Drive Chronograph Canvas Watch Review

I purchased this watch about a month ago. I am very pleased with the purchase and have only two things to comment on.

The strap length, it is a bit short and I would say I have average size wrists for a 6′0″ guy. That being said I buckle it into the 2nd hole from the end.I would prefer it to be 1 maybe 2 more inside but then you would have that overhang so I have learned to appreciate it.

The strap color. In the picture it appears to be a tan tinted olive drab when in fact it is a very full green olive drab. I like it better but yeah it looks a bit different than it does in the picture.

All and all it is a quality watch and I am extremely happy with my purchase. I would definetly recommend this watch.

To set the time *(refer to full-setting instructions here: Manual ):

1. Pull the crown out to the time correction position when the second hand has reached the 0 seconds position.
2. Turn the crown to set the time. The 24-hour hand moves in conjunction with the hour hand. Pay attention to AM and PM when setting the time.
3. Securely return the crown to the normal position in synchronization with a telephone or other time service.

To set the date:

1. Pull the crown out to the date correction position.
2. Turn the crown to the right to set the date. The crown turns freely and the date does not change if the crown is turned to the left.
3. If the date is set while the time on the watch is between the hours of about 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM, the date may not change on the following day. If this happens, set the date after temporarily moving the hands to a time other than between the above times.

Using the Chronograph*:

The chronograph function of this watch is able to measure and display elasped time up to 59 minutes, 59 seconds in 1 second units. After 60 minutes have elasped, each of the chronograph hands automatically stop at the 12:00 position.
   
    Chronograph Timing:

1. Start timing by pressing button (A). The chronograph is repeatedly started and stopped by pressing button (A).
2. Pressing button (B) resets the chronograph to 0 seconds.

    *Note: Do not subject the chronograph to strong impacts while chronograph timing is in progress. Subjecting the watch to a strong impact during chronograph timing or when the chronograph has stopped automatically after 60 minutes have elasped can cause the chronograph minute hand to shift out of position. If this happens, press button (B) to reset to the 12:00 position before using the chronograph again.

Citizen Men’s BL8000-54A Eco-Drive Calibre 8700 Watch Review

I’ve owned this watch for about 4 years now. Just some comments on what I’ve experienced with it.

The dial window, being mineral, scratches easily. I have already replaced it once.

The watch band and case is a combination of a polished stainless steel and a brushed stainless steel. The polished parts tend to scuff and scratch easily. Cost me a pretty penny to get it polished out, so now I don’t wear the watch as much as I used to.

Adjusting the time is also a little “odd”. When you pull out the side button to adjust the time and you go to adjust, the minute hand moves, but it stops at every minute marker. So changing the time is a bit of a chore. So I usually don’t take this watch with me when I travel to a different time zone.

I have the Citizen Men’s Eco-Drive Calibre 8700 Watch #BL8000-03A, and adjusting the time on that watch is as you would expect. You turn the button as fast or as slow as you want and the arms move accordingly.

I do have to say, of all of my metal banded watches, this one is the most comfortable. It’s a good looking watch, all in all, but just be careful with it, because it easily scratches. If you tend to be hard on watches like I do, might want to look for a watch that’s mostly, if not all a brushed stainless steel or brushed titanium.

Citizen Women’s EW0890-58D Eco-Drive Riva Diamond Accented Watch Review

This watch is absolutely PERFECT! It’s readable, but not too large. The design is both feminine and classic. It’s a “Citizen” ECO DRIVE model so it is energy efficient and never needs a battery! Sunlight or artificial light is all that is needed to power this watch. It also keeps excellent time.
The band is a little large so you may have to take it to a professional jeweler to have a link or two removed but that’s not a problem. My local jeweler does this while you wait, at no charge.
This watch is quite stunning, although elegant at the same time. The diamonds are discrete but add a bit of bling to the design.
There are no ‘negatives’ to report which is the reason I’m giving this watch a five-star rating, with no hesitation.

Citizen Men’s BM6400-00E Eco-Drive Canvas Watch Review

Would just like to give my basic thoughts on this watch. I just received today and overall, think it’s a great watch. I traded down, I suppose, from the Citizen Skyhawk black eagle. Which has an unforgiving rubber wristband. But this is about the Citizen Eco-Drive Canvas Watch #BM6400-00E.

First off, I love the visibility. The contrast of white on black with the large numbers make this watch very easy to read. The numbers are just a bit too large for my liking, but I knew that going into it and it’s something that doesn’t bother me too much. The ease of reading the watch at first glance more than makes up for the large numbers. The case is very solid and seems durable. It just has that quality feel without being too heavy. Another plus is the flat crystal. Much better than a convex crystal which are prone to glare. Even though I’m no diver, I really like the fact this watch is 200 meter water resistant and I love the screw down crown. This watch is outstanding at night. The numbers are very bright and easy to read. The canvas band is not as uncomfortable as I thought it would be. I have ordered a leather band and will probably get one of those Martac straps I’ve seen in many Citizen watch pictures. And of course the eco-drive is a huge plus. I doubt I will never own another watch other than a Citizen eco-drive.

I’m not going to be as picky as to try measuring the movement of the second hand and how they line up with the minutes. That’s just not a concern of mine and it seems to work great in that regard. I only have a couple of complaints that, had I known, I may have considered a different watch.

First the crystal is raised slightly above the bezel. I anticipate some dings and scratches on the crystal from bumping into things. Second, after wearing the watch for nearly a day now, the hands seem too small for the numbers. I would have preferred this watch to have slightly larger hands (hour, minute and second). I think it would complement the watch much better.

My only other complaint is the date. Unlike another review I read, I do not think the date is easier to read ‘in person’. In fact, I struggle a bit to read the date. This is a huge problem indoors or in low light because the date is sunken down considerably and the face casts a shadow making it that much more difficult to read. Design-wise, I would have preferred the entire ‘3′ spot being taken up by a slightly larger date. The date is the only reason I did not give this watch 5 stars.

For my tastes, I would like to see the BM8180-03E and this watch (BM6400-00E) merge into a style that has the case diameter and band width of the BM6400-00E and the face of the BM8180-03E. I did not purchase the BM8180-03E because I prefer a wider band and a slightly larger case diameter.

Citizen Men’s BL8000-03A Eco-Drive Calibre 8700 Watch Review

The calendar feature of this particular timepiece is unequaled in styling…who else has a round calendar? I’ve had the watch for a couple years now, and long as it gets reasonable exposure to indoor light (home, office), or sunlight, it never quits. If you lived in Alaska without electricity, you might have an issue during the winter months, but then in the summer, no worries

Now for the leather strap. The buckle is unique as the watch…tricky at first, but you get used to it. The inner (leather?) lining is sort of like what you’d find in a men’s leather shoe–thin and bonded and sewn to the thicker outer layer. The light color soon discolors due to skin oil, sweat or moisture and then it cracks. The initial feel and look is plush. But over time it is disintigrating on my wrist. Where the pins hold the strap to the watch, the inner layer has completely cracked, exposing the adhesive, but none of this is visible on the outside. Changing the strap is another nightmare. I had to go to a jeweler to get it off and replaced; I plan to change to a metal bracelet. The leather strap simply is not durable enough and replacements are expensive…up to , yet wear out in 12-18 months of daily use.

I used to own a citizen eco Drive similar to this exact model. Needed to get the band resized since it was large but the watch is beautiful, lightweight and metal band does not tarnish since it is stainless steel. Have yet to see how long the gold finish will last but my previous two tone watch held its color for over 2 years. It does not need its battery changed since it is a rechargable cell that works via solar cell and artificial light works. Just be careful if you wear long sleeve shirts all the time, if so you will need to leave the watch under the sun or a lamp when you are not wearing it to charge it. I dropped the previous watch a few times and the hour hand came off. Durable this watch is not but it is definitely classy and good for someone who wants a low maintenance watch.

Perhaps it’s a bit early to review this one, I’ve had it for about 3 months now and love it. Has more features that I care to use, but it’s nice to know that they are there. LOOKS AWESOME NO MATTER WHAT I WEAR! it can be dressy as it can be sporty, and in the end that’s all that matters for this type of watch. Highly recommended.
